Surgery for a breast reduction in Perth is performed in an accredited hospital under general anaesthesia. You will need to attend a post-operative consultation approximately 5-7 days after breast reduction surgery, and again 4 weeks later.

Scars are an inevitable result of any surgery. Unwanted side effects from a breast reduction are uncommon. There may be an alteration in sensation of the nipples but this often improves with time. Modern surgery techniques can preserve the ability to breastfeed and this should be discussed with your Specialist Plastic Surgeon if it is important to you.

A post-operative care plan will be discussed with you before and after your procedure. Post-operative reviews will also be scheduled. You can expect some bruising and swelling for a few weeks after surgery. Returning to work and your normal activities is an individual matter, and your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will advise you. Most patients are back to their regular routine in 2-3 weeks, although resuming strenuous exercise may take a little longer. Depending on your type of work, you can expect to resume work 2-6 weeks after breast reduction surgery.
