Collagen Stimulating Injections

Results from this treatment are gradual and you will require between 2-3 treatments 8 weeks apart. Results build over the course of 3 months and this means that changes are subtle and usually aren’t apparent immediately after the treatment which differs from the more immediate change provided by other dermal fillers.

This is because it takes time for the patient’s own collagen to grow in the targeted areas. Many patients like this slow, natural approach to improving their appearance.

Firstly, an Assure cosmetic nurse will perform a full facial assessment to determine your level of volume loss. Once they confirm that you are a suitable candidate for this treatment they will then discuss the number of sessions required and the timeline involved in your treatment.

This injectable treatment is administered via a cannula which means less bruising and down time post treatment. Only two or three injections on each side of the face are required. A numbing solution is placed at those injection points to keep your treatment as comfortable as possible. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.

Serious side effects are not common. The most common side effects after initial treatment include injection site swelling, tenderness, bruising, itching and lumps however these are all generally mild and transient.

Other side effects may include small lumps under the skin that are sometimes noticeable when pressing on the treated area.

Larger lumps, some with delayed onset, with or without inflammation or skin colour discolouration have also occasionally been reported.

Collagen Stimulating injections work best for people with moderate hollowing through their temple and cheek areas. If you much greater volume loss to the lateral aspect of your face you will not be an ideal candidate for this treatment.

It is contraindicated in patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients who are allergic to lidocaine, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), carboxymethylcellulose or non-pyrogenic mannitol, and patients who have a serious autoimmune condition.

Patients who have severe allergies with a history of severe reactions (anaphylaxis) or multiple severe allergies, or previously had or have risks factors for hypertrophic scarring or keloid formation should not undergo this treatment.

We will also not treat any patient who presents as unwell with acute illness, cold or virus.

The injectable product is a biocompatible, biodegradable material that comes in a dry powder form and is made up with sterile water prior to your treatment. Immediately post treatment you will feel fuller in the treated areas which is due to the water content being injected. Over the next 24-48 hours your body absorbs the water and the fullness will settle. After the water content has dissipated, your face will appear as normal and you will not see any changes until a few months after your treatment.

There can be some tenderness and bruising post treatment that could last 3-7 days, however with limited injection points this is generally mild.

This is different for each client however, after your series of treatment has finished we would then review your results every 18-24 months and add as required.

This will most likely be 1-2 vials to maintain your results but it is unlikely you will need to repeat the amount you needed at the very start of your treatment.
