Mummy Makeover

Restore your pre-baby body with our ‘mummy makeover’ package.

Motherhood. While it can be the most rewarding experience of a woman’s life, it can also be one of the toughest, particularly its physical effects. Only a mum knows the true toll a baby takes on her body.

The pressures of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and time, can all contribute to unwanted changes in a woman’s body.

Breasts often become overstretched and saggy following birth and breastfeeding. Other problems like enlarged areolas, unevenly shaped or ‘empty’ looking breasts, loose fat around the waistline, extra fatty deposits on the hips, pigmentation in the face, and stretch marks, are all common complaints for most mums.

While diet and exercise can help, many mothers find their body never goes back to looking like it once did. It can be difficult to return to your pre-baby shape, no matter how strict your diet or exercise regime.

A ‘mummy makeover’ is a surgical option to help restore (or even enhance) characteristics of your pre-baby body. The procedure involves a combination of the latest cosmetic surgery techniques to improve a mum’s body’s contour and overall appearance.

For many Perth mothers, a mummy makeover provides an ideal solution to address a range of concerns about their physical appearance after childbirth.

A mummy makeover can help restore pre-pregnancy body shape and improve the body’s contour and appearance by addressing excess fat or loose skin and removing, tightening or reshaping the breasts, abdomen, hips, buttocks, legs or labia.

A patient’s own individual body characteristic and personal goals, balanced with our surgical recommendations, is what ultimately determines an appropriate ‘package’ of procedures. Your Specialist Plastic Surgeon at Assure Cosmetic Centre is the best person to determine if your expectations are achievable.

Our Specialist Plastic Surgeons perform mummy makeover surgeries in an accredited hospital under general anaesthetic. Most patients require a hospital stay either overnight or up to several days to recover after these procedures. This will depend on your general health, the extent of the procedure/s, and your surgeon’s advice.

You will need to attend a post-operative consultation approximately 5-7 days after discharge from hospital, and again 7-14 days after this with subsequent post-op visits scheduled according to your individual needs.

After pregnancy and childbirth, it takes time for the body to return to its normal state. We recommend waiting for around one year after your final pregnancy before contemplating a mummy makeover. You must also be finished breastfeeding.

Following an initial consultation with one of our Specialist Plastic Surgeons, we then advise waiting or a period of six months prior to going ahead. In this time, good nutrition and regular exercise will be important, to ensure your body is in a stable condition and shape prior to surgery.

Although no major complications are expected with a mummy makeover, this will depend on the individual procedure/s undertaken. Your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will discuss what you can expect from the procedure/s, as each will have different side effects, risks and recovery periods. It is important to carefully follow your surgeon’s advice to reduce the risk of complications.

A post-operative care plan will be discussed with you before and after your Perth mummy makeover procedure. Post-operative reviews will also be scheduled. The specific recovery time and post-operative care needs will be different for each mummy makeover surgery. Returning to work and your normal activities is an individual matter and your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will advise you.

The initial consultation with your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will cost approximately $220 (fees vary slightly per surgeon) and take about 30-45 minutes. If a Medicare item applies to your potential procedure then you will be entitled to a rebate from Medicare of approximately $75, providing you have a written referral from your GP or specialist. GP referrals are valid for 12 months and specialist referrals for 3 months.

Your Specialist Plastic Surgeon will provide an indication of the likely costs, which will include your surgeon’s fee, anaesthetist’s fees and hospital and theatre fees. Your surgeon’s fee includes all post-operative care and nurse dressings. Pricing of your surgeon’s fee will vary from case to case and combination areas of surgery (breasts, abdomen, hips, buttocks, legs, labia).

Indicative price ranges are below. In some cases, a discount may be provided for combining procedures:
